THE County Council has confirmed there is ‘firm interest’ from developers in the former Fishguard junior school site.
The 2.78 hectare piece of land, which includes the former library and Ship and Anchor pub, went on the market last year.
It is earmarked for a supermarket and a one way system.
The school closed three years ago after the building was deemed unsuitable and its pupils moved into Ysgol Glannau Gwaun.
Since then a succession of supermarkets have shown interest, including Tesco, Co-op and Asda.
A County Council spokesman said: “We have firm interest from developers regarding the supermarket on the former junior school site which we are trying to progress but it is subject to agreement with the Welsh Government regarding the link road and this is still being negotiated.”
