IT’S AMAZING what you can achieve when you have a little help from your friends.

A band connected to Haverfordwest-based Elliots Hill Care has produced an eight track album for Children In Need.

“This came about because I wrote a song called Elliots Army. It’s a version of the Elvis Costello song Oliver’s Army and it’s now on the album,” said lead vocalist Alex Davies.

“Jane Kelso (director at Elliots Hill) wanted us to make a video for it. I suggested it would sound better if we recorded it, and we ended up with this album.”

Alex, Rob Webb and Meilir Tomas - the main line-up of The WorldEaters band - enlisted session musicians and extra backing singers in the form of Ben Stirling, Serena Elliott, Daniel Evans, Tony Swift, Anne Goddard and Sue Grant to make the album.

It’s called ‘With a little help from my friends’. Fifty copies have already been sold, and the next batch is shifting quickly.

“We recorded the album at Studio 49 in Narberth, where Nick Swannell was a fantastic help,” Alex explained.

“It was a really fun experience. I’m already thinking about the name of the next album!”

“Red Kite Law helped us by printing the CD covers, and Jeff Pritchard designed the cover and the logo – he works at Elliots Hill,” said Alex. “I’d also like to give special thanks to Dennis Allen of the Hake-Inn fish and chip shop in Milford Haven, for the donation of a seven piece drum kit. My family has eaten there ever since I was little. I mentioned to him I was looking for a drum kit, and he gave us one.”
