SIX community-spirited Tasker Milward pupils took the time to spread a little festive cheer by delivering four specially-made hampers to local old people’s homes and two to a women’s refuge charity.
Sixth-formers Millie Thomas, Harry Smallman, Megan Thomas, Daniel Jones, Joseph Brill and Tom Harvey also went the extra mile by singing carols to elderly residents.
The gang took hampers to Williamston Nursing Home in Houghton, Lynnefield Care Home in Merlins Bridge and Highgrove Residential Home in Hawthorn Rise, Haverfordwest, before handing the rest over to Women’s Aid.
“Our teacher Mrs Scourfield started the idea about three years ago, but this year we have taken it on ourselves,” Millie explained. “We went around the school collecting donations of money and food. This year we raised £100, which we spent on extra luxury items for the hampers. We have also been handing out Christmas cards made by younger pupils.”
The 17-year-old said visiting the care homes was “an emotional experience”.
“It’s lovely to brighten up the old peoples’ day,” she said. Her fellow pupil Harry agreed, adding:
“It’s really nice when they join in with singing the carols!”
