AS IT celebrates an incredible first year, Milford Haven Junior Town Band will be holding an open morning for wannabe musicians to come and try their hand at playing a brass instrument.
The band, which is open to everyone from eight to 80, has grown to almost 30 members since it was set up a year ago.
“This year has been amazing and it’s going to be tough to top it in 2015,” said band leader Bron Parratt.
In January, the band came away with a silver award at its first ever competition in Burry Port, and soon after celebrated its first front page of the Milford Mercury.
The band has also performed on Radio Pembrokeshire, won a further two bronze awards, and raised more than £1,200 by holding two charity concerts and carolling in Johnston in the run-up to Christmas.
“As the junior band is getting bigger and better we feel that it is time to push the Beginner Band so we are holding an open morning with refreshments etc which will give children, and adults, a chance to come and listen to the band for free and even try a brass instrument to see if it is for them,” said Bron.
