IT’S all change in Pembroke and Pembroke Dock, with new mayors and deputy mayors in both towns.

In Pembroke Dock, Councillor Peter Kraus has succeeded Councillor Pam George, with Councillor Maureen Colgan elected as deputy mayor.

The mayor making was followed by a civic dinner at the town’s Pater Hall, and a civic service at St John’s Church, followed by a parade from the town’s Pembroke Dock Community School car park.

Speaking after becoming mayor for the second time, having previously served in 2012, Cllr Kraus said: “All I can say is it’s a privilege and an honour to become mayor for the second time, I intend to make it a year when I do my utmost to encourage tourism into our town.

“I also want to raise £10,000 for my chosen charity the Alzheimers Society.”

Cllr Kraus is currently in the process of organising a fundraising show for June 19 at the town’s Pater Hall.

He said: “It has been brought to my attention how many people now suffer with this illness, and I want to help, so I would like to make the Alzheimer’s charity my charity for the next year in my role as mayor of Pembroke Dock.”

Pembroke saw Councillor Pauline Waters succeed Councillor Aaron Carey to become the 636th mayor of the town, with Councillor Dennis Evans taking on the role of deputy mayor.

Following the mayor-making ceremony, a civic and divine service was held at Monkton Priory Church with a parade through the town with the 948 ATC Haverfordwest and St Davids band.

At a previous meeting of the town council, Cllr Waters; nominated by Councillor Keith Nicholas and seconded by Councillor Rose Blackburn, said: “We’ve all worked so hard to put Pembroke on the map; I want to see it grow and get bigger.”
