ORGANISERS of The Havens Carnival are appealing for volunteers to help out at what promises to be a fantastic family day out.

This year’s Carnival is set to take place on Saturday, July 25. As is always the case, all funds raised by the event will be ploughed back in to local amenities and projects that will benefit the community for years to come.

The 2015 theme is ‘Down on the Farm’ and attractions include fancy dress, funniest vegetable, wellie throwing and best scarecrow competitions, sheep racing, egg throwing, a grand raffle, various stalls, a BBQ and cream teas, a bouncy castle and a duck herding demonstration.

The famous Carnival parade will set off from the football field before processing along the seafront in front of the watching crowds. The event itself opens at 2pm in the grounds of the local school.

“We have to admit, it’s hard work pulling it all together and putting it all away for another year. But many hands make light work, and the more the merrier, so please consider spending an hour or two – or more! – helping us out if you can,” a spokesperson for the organisers said. “We would be really grateful for any assistance to help make the Carnival a success.”

Volunteers are needed for pre-Carnival promotion and planning, drumming up sponsors, putting up posters and handing out flyers. On the day, help is required to do things like setting up and taking down structures, running games stalls, serving food, co-ordinating competitions, handing out prizes, selling raffle tickets, marshalling the parade route and shaking collection buckets to collect donations.

If you think you can help, or you would like to book a stall at the Carnival to sell your wares or promote your cause, please contact Kate on 01437 781 412 or e-mail havenscarnival@gmail.com.
