MILFORD Haven Soroptimists celebrated their 60th anniversary last weekend in grand style.

Their celebrations were attended by Soroptimists from De Bevelanden, Ponka City, and Harrogate as well as past members.

The Austrian Soroptomists were unble to attend at short notice. After a guided tour around Pembroke Castle followed by a picnic at Stackpole and a BBQ in the beautiful garden of one of our members at St Ishmaels on the Friday night.

On the Saturday the members met Milford Haven Mayor at Milford Museum in the morning followed by a boat trip up the Haven in the afternoon.

There was then a celebration meal and evening of entertainment by Milford Soroptimists at Coronation Hall Dale where the visiting Soroptimists were entertained with Welsh songs, sea shanties and, by special request of current President Anne Johnson the beautiful “Thou Blessed Haven”, words and music written by Edmund Walters of Milford Haven.

A farewell dinner was held on the Sunday evening at the home of one of the Milford members.

After a wonderful meal prepared by Milford members, gifts were exchanged and the evening and weekend was completed by members and guests singing We’ll Meet Again and Auld Lang Syne. A truly fitting end to a lovely weekend.
