SATURDAY’S Quins Carnival in Pembroke Dock proved to be one of the best-ever despite a deluge of rain in its later stages.

The August 1 carnival started at the town’s Albion Square at 12.30 for the 1pm procession to the ‘Quins ground in London Road.

This year also saw a display of classic cars at the Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre, many of which later joined the parade.

The best float, of 11, was won by the First & Last pub, with Pembroke Haven also triumphing, and a special ‘next best float’ award for Elly Neville for her Flag for Ward 10 float.

A total of £201.27 was raised for Ward 10 fundraising on the day.

Pembroke Dock Mayor Peter Kraus said: “It was absolutely brilliant, the best one ever, I’ve never seen anything like it; I’m ecstatic.

“The parade itself was top notch; I would like to say all the thanks go out to those very kind haulage companies who allowed us to use their lorries and drivers; we did our bit for the community of Pembroke Dock.

“To me it was the best ever.”
