MORE than 600 people attended a recent Pembroke Rotary Club family fun event, which raised more than £2,000 for charity.

The club’s annual family event at Manorbier Castle saw the crowd enjoy a barbecue, together with tea and cakes provided by Pembroke Inner Wheel.

There was plenty to keep the crowds happy, with the club’s fairy queen enchanting the children in the audience, followed by a dance programme by the Seren Irish Dancers.

There was also plenty of bloodthirsty action, with the Knights Templar giving a display of medieval combat, enjoyed by the dads as much as children, followed by sea shanties and ballads sung by the Vagrants’ Crew.

The evening ended with medieval music performed by La Volta.

The money raised will be shared between the Peony Breast Care Unit at Prince Phillip Hospital and Rotary charities.

President of the Rotary Club of Pembroke Jon Davies said: “We are delighted to have hosted the medieval barbecue again this year. It was fantastic to see so many people enjoying themselves and supporting some worthwhile causes in our community.”
