A MEMORABLE meeting with an elephant enhanced a trophy presentation recently made by Tenby Boxing Day Swim organisers.
They travelled to Skanda Vale monastery, north of Carmarthen, to hand over Tenby Sea Swimming Association’s unique Goscar Oscar trophy for the highest group fundraising in the event.
Skanda Vale’s brave bathers raised around £2,300 from their festive dip, which will go towards their new £2m in patient palliative care hospice to serve Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion.
As well as visiting the hospice site at Saron, near Llandysul, TSSA members were privileged to be introduced to Skanda Vale’s 34-year-old temple elephant, Valli.
