A PUPIL from Stepaside CP School was crowned a double Welsh champion at the Urdd primary schools national swimming gala held at Cardiff International Pool recently.
James Ardern defeated strong opposition from across Wales to win the Year 3 and 4 25 metres front crawl and butterfly events.
“I was very nervous, but I had luck on my side,” said James. “I enjoyed the day and I am looking forward to competing again next year.”
Head teacher Paul Harries, said: “We are delighted with James’ wonderful achievements,” and described the youngster as “a credit to himself, his family and the school."
