AT its recent April meeting, Pembroke Town Council awarded certificates of commendation to two Macmillan volunteers, Auriol Scourfield and Monica Vanner, both from Pembroke.

Between them they have clocked up more than 25 years working on, and behalf of, MacMillan Cancer Support.

Monica is an ex-chair of the Pembrokeshire committee and is currently vice chair while Auriol has been a MacMillan secretary and is now one of the bankers.

The award ceremony took place at the town hall in Pembroke where Auriol was presented with her certificate by the Mayor of Pembroke Cllr Pauline Waters. Monica was unable to be at that ceremony because she was visiting her daughter in Dubai, but was presented with her certificate by Cllr Waters at another presentation evening organised by Pembroke Town Council.

Both Auriol and Monica said they were very honoured to receive the award from the town council and also expressed their thanks to Dilys Hanmer MBE, for putting their names forward.
