Pembrokeshire College’s Bright Start Nursery celebrate their 25th birthday recently, hosting a free Fun Day for children aged seven and under.

Nursery Manager, Rachael Rendell and her team welcomed the crowds and helped children to plant seeds, take part in messy play, have their faces painted and adorn themselves in glittery tattoos. Outside activities included the sensory garden and a bouncy castle with an ice cream van and the coffee bean van providing refreshments.

Sara Hannon, who came with her two sons, Archie and Billy, said: “The boys are having so much fun today. It’s great to see what’s available at the nursery with so many activities and toys for them to play with. The nursery staff are lovely and have made everyone feel so welcome.”

Little Monsters proved popular with the crowds, making balloon models of Frozen’s Olaf and the Minions. Claire Eaton Photography took family portraits and the day was made complete with a giant birthday cake which was especially made by The Welsh Bakery.

A surprise visit by Freddie the dog for an impromptu story-time caused much excitement. Freddie came along to the Fun Day as part of a reading scheme called ‘By your side’ which is currently being rolled-out in Pembrokeshire by Burns.

Full of excitement, ice cream and birthday cake, the day finally came to an end and everyone went home with a Bright Start goodie bag.

Nursery manager, Rachael Rendell said: “It’s been a very busy day for us and it’s been great to see so many people here to celebrate our 25th birthday. We hope that everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did.”
