IT’S been a busy time at Pembroke Dock Community School recently.

In the run-up to the Assembly elections, the school had a visit from Plaid Cymru hopefuls, leader Leanne Wood, now the Plaid AM for Rhondda, and Assembly Minister Simon Thomas, now a Mid and West Wales AM for Plaid.

Year 6 pupils also took the opportunity to quiz Simon Thomas on various aspects of political life, with the EU referendum (a topic they have been studying) top of their list for discussion.

In other school news, the choir has been busy preparing for the junior school choir annual competition, rehearsing non-stop and recently took to the stage in the hall to be judged by Phil Lloyd from Pembroke Male Voice Choir.

The pupils sang beautifully and were a credit to the school with how they represented themselves and performed.

The school has also seen sporting success, with three Year 5 pupils, Morgan Williams, Billy Jones and Dylan Kidd recently taking part in a nationwide rugby competition as part of the Quins’ Under 10s squad.

They won all of their games, beating teams from far and wide across the land to be crowned champions of the festival.

The school is extremely proud of how they performed and the youngsters proudly showed off their trophy in assembly.

In other sporting news, Mark Jones and Daniel James were selected to represent the county football under 11s squad, and recently played in a tournament where they finished as runners-up.

After beating other county teams from across Wales, they eventually lost to Swansea City Schools 1-0. The boys had a fantastic time and should be proud of how they played.
