PAST mayor of Pembroke Dock, Cllr Peter Kraus, is calling on volunteers to help tidy up the town’s Front Street.

Cllr Kraus recently started a challenge to paint all the railings and benches, and the propeller in Front Street.

Cllr Kraus said: “This has now started and is starting to make an impact, slow but sure, the horrible faded blue railings are starting to change colour as we are using red oxide paint to preserve the metal to make sure they last for many years.

“This will be followed by a grey primer undercoat followed by a top coat of sax blue gloss paint to finish off.

“It has been a tough start with only a handful of volunteers coming forward to help but the ones we have helping at the moment are really working towards the goal of a transformed Front Street.

“As you will see by the pictures it is a very long street but one with a fantastic view and this is all being done to encourage tourists and locals to come and enjoy what we have to offer in our town especially our fantastic haven, if we can get Hobbs Point ship-shape then we can surely do the same here.

“I am looking for more volunteers to come along and join us to get it all finished while the summer is still here, it doesn't matter if it is one hour or many hours every bit helps and it is for all of us to enjoy at the end.

“This is only the start of the challenge as there will be Western Way Car Park and all the cannons, anchors, bollards and much more to be done.”

Anyone interested in helping can contact Cllr Kraus on 01646 685 234, or 07867 765 716, or just turn up at Front Street.
