FOR many years Pembroke Rotary Club has sponsored young students at the District 1150 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards course, held every August in the Brecon Beacons.
This year four female students from Pembroke School enjoyed the experience - Grace Phillips, Holly Maynard, Hannah Collings, and Hollie Wiggins.
Activities include abseiling, caving, orienteering, gorge walking and kayaking.
During the week students are divided into groups with each candidate taking turns as a group leader. The RYLA award is highly regarded by universities and employers when included in CVs.
The students, together with teacher John Jones, recently attended the weekly lunch meeting of the Rotary Club at the Cleddau Bridge Hotel, and, following lunch, gave an enthusiastic desktop presentation of their experiences and benefits of the course.
Their enthusiasm was overwhelming and each student expressed their gratitude to the Rotary Club for their sponsorship.
