IT’S been a busy half term at Pembroke Dock’s St Mary’s RC School.

Key Stage 2 pupils visited Carew Castle and Tidal Mill; the trip was inspiration for this year’s South Hook LNG calendar competition to create colourful artwork that celebrates Pembrokeshire wildlife.

The children had a great day out, exploring habitats surrounding the castle, creating a mini beast with clay, hunting for mini beasts and going on a colour walk. They were joined by Mr Peake from Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

Foundation Phase children took part in a sports festival at the Britannia Road school, arranged by Ian Thomas from Sport Pembrokeshire.

Deputy Headteacher Cheryl McNally said: “There were lots of fun games and activities for the children to take part in which provided opportunities for the children to practise their throwing, catching, kicking, jumping and skipping skills, using a range of equipment.

A great deal of fun was had by the children and adults alike.”

The school ended the half term with a whole-school harvest celebration with lots of catchy harvest songs.

The hall was beautifully decorated and Tesco donated a harvest loaf. Cheryl added: “The children did a fantastic job reminding us how fortunate we are and provided us with the opportunity to reflect on this.”

The parents kindly donated food for hardship charity PATCH, which was greatly received.
