PEMBROKE Haven Yacht Club ‘pushed the boat out’ with a fantastic supper for members and guests to celebrate their annual fund-raising cheque presentation to Angle Lifeboat Station.
Local band The Vagrants Crew band, huge supporters of the RNLI, played all evening and donated £100 to the Yacht Club cheque, making a total of £1,000 being presented to Angle Lifeboat Station’s treasurer and crew.
A second cheque for £3,500 was presented to Angle Lifeboat Station by Daphne Bush, Pembroke Ladies RNLI Guild chair, on behalf of local businessman Peter Kidney, who was unable to attend.
Peter, an experienced open water swimmer, sponsored by business colleagues, family and friends, swam the River Cleddau from Hook to Hobbs Point in September in under three hours, raising funds for Angle Lifeboat Station.
Members of Angle crew provided safety boat cover for Peter's swim, liaised with the Port Authority and were an enormous help to Daphne who helped to organise this epic personal fund-raiser with Peter.
On Saturday evening, Angle Lifeboat Station Treasurer Linda Foulstone accepted Peter's cheque on behalf of all crew and personnel at the station.
Linda announced that this substantial donation will allow the crew to purchase a thermal imaging camera, a priceless edition to their rescue equipment.
The RNLI would like to say a huge thank you to Pembroke Haven Yacht Club, Commodore, Rob, Jenny, Maggie and members for their continuing support and being such a huge boost to vital fund-raising for the charity.
