ONE lucky player from Pembroke Dock was delighted to win £25,000 when his postcode, SA72 6BA, was drawn as a winner of People’s Postcode Lottery’s Street Prize.

William Billing, 74, was shocked to see TV presenter and People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, Matt Johnson knocking on his door.

“It doesn’t seem real,” he said. “I never thought it would happen to me.”

Retired William was especially lucky to receive his cheque as he almost stopped playing.

“I never win anything and I almost cancelled my ticket,” he said. “I’m so glad I didn’t and I’ve signed up for a second one now. I think I’ll get my gold envelope framed”

William is looking forward to celebrating with his wife, Virginia.

“My wife had to go to work just after I was presented with my cheque but she didn’t want to go,” said William. “We’ll give some money to family, pay some bills off and then maybe save for something next year.”

Players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £154 million to date for over 2,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

People’s Postcode Lottery Ambassador, Matt Johnson, said: “It was great to surprise William on a very rainy day with his £25,000 cheque – a bit of sunshine in gloomy November. I hope he enjoys spending his winnings.”

A project near Pembroke Dock that has received support from players is Neyland Rowling Club Service, which was awarded £783 this year to upgrade their equipment in line with health and safety.
