PENNAR Community School is hoping to raise £10,000 to provide a community bus, to be used by both the school and any community groups in the area.

A Justgiving online crowdfunding page has recently been set up with hopes of raising the £10,000, with £130 being raised to date.

The Justgiving page states: “We are a small community school based in Pembrokeshire, but we have very limited funds. We want the very best for our pupils and wider community.

“We are seeking funding to purchase a mini bus for use for lots of activities from sports, arts, environmental for school and community use for people of all ages.

“Please help us make this happen as many children and families will directly benefit from this mini bus as locally we have limited transportation and as a school we have no transportation. This really will make a difference.”

Pennar Community School Head teacher Damon McGarvie said: “We’re asking for any members of the community or local groups to chip in, with a view to these groups being able to use the bus; we’re trying to get a community bus.”

He stressed the bus would be available to the wider community.

“There are so many times when a bus is very handy for a school, but it’s not going to be used on many weekends or school holidays.”
