POEMS written by ‘Mrs C’ - well remembered Pembroke Dock lady Chrystal Collins - have been published in a book which will be launched at the town’s St John’s Church this Friday, December 16.

Mrs Collins lived in Pembroke Dock for nearly 60 years and was much involved in church and parish life as well as helping to raise funds for Christian Aid.

She was Sunday School Superintendent at St John’s for over half a century and was a dedicated worker for her church well into her eighties. To so many people she was known affectionately as ‘Mrs C’.

Over the years Mrs Collins wrote many poems - personal, humorous and reflective of her long and active life. Now, 10 years after her death, her daughter Christine Evans and family have brought together nearly 40 of the poems in a book entitled ‘Mrs C: An Anthology of Poems’. Profits from the book’s sale will be given to Christian Aid.

Mrs Collins was also well known in the business community as she and her husband, Robert, set up R. M. Collins gents’ outfitters in Dimond Street. Later, in partnership with daughter Christine, she ran a schoolwear and boyswear shop in Laws Street. The business operated for over 40 years and was one of the longest serving Pembroke Dock family concerns.

The book launch begins at 3pm on Friday December 16 at St John’s Church, courtesy of the Rev Nicky Skipworth and Churchwardens, when the book will be dedicated with readings from it. Refreshments will follow and all friends are invited to attend.

Copies of the book, priced at £7.95, are available at the Book Room, St Govan’s Centre, and from other local bookshops. It can also be obtained direct from Christine Evans on 01437 751233.
