PEMBROKE Dock’s much-loved Winter Festival brought plenty of Christmas cheer and the colourful spectacle of beautiful locally made lanterns lighting up the town’s streets on Friday evening, December 9.

Despite damp and gloomy weather, more than 100 people lined the streets to enjoy the annual festival.

The parade itself took a different form this year as the streets were not able to be closed off due to new rules on the regulations of parades.

Despite that, residents enjoyed the annual delight of Father Christmas visiting the town, and the many colourful lanterns made by local youngsters – and those not so young, who lined the pavements of Dimond Street to light the way for Santa.

There was further festive fun at the town’s Western Way car park, with entertainment from Cleddau FM and Samba Doc, followed by a spectacular firework finale.

As in previous years, lantern-making workshops were held in Pembroke Dock’s Bush Street youth centre, with materials donated by the town’s recently-opened B&M store.

The town council would like to thank sponsors Valero, Cleddau FM, Samba Doc, Sand Palace Arts, Pembroke Dock Community School, Clive Collins, Brian Jones, the maintenance team from Pembrokeshire County Council, All Seasons Fireworks and last but not least Father Christmas.
