THE traditional folk dances from Wales can be tricky to learn at the best of times.
However, under the expert tuition of Mavis Roberts, John, Irene, Joan and Georgie, pupils from Pembroke’s Golden Grove School-Ysgol Gelli Aur recently got to grips with the routines involved.
The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the lessons and became proficient at the dances.
With a Twmpath and Cawl night coming up shortly, the school expects to see some great dances being performed by parents, who have been taught by their children.
In sporting news, the school netball team came third in the Pembrokeshire netball finals held in Narberth recently.
Against strong opposition they put in some excellent performances. They had strong win against Maenchlochog, Bro Ingli and Llandudoch schools.
The games against Mary Immaculate and Tenby were very close and competitive, losing 1-0 to Mary Immaculate and 4-2 to the eventual winners, Tenby.
Head Teacher Andy Williams said: “I would like to thank everyone involved in the netball, a special thank you to Mrs Lewis for all her work with the team. We had great support from parents and grandparents of the pupils involved. Da iawn blant a llongyfarchiadau.”
