PEMBROKE’S Golden Grove School’s recent annual eisteddfod saw a very high standard of competition.
Judges Lowri and Angharad commented that the pupils taking part should feel very proud of their achievements.
Pupils from the Welsh first language classes performed in singing and poetry whilst pupils performing in the Welsh as second language category undertook recitals.
Pupils winning first to third places will now go on to area Urdd competitions.
Head teacher Andy Williams thanks the judges for their hard work and Anna-Louise Tiller for playing the piano accompaniment.
In sporting events, the school welcomed Monkton School to play football and netball matches. The football team, drawn from pupils in years five and six, had a hard first game, which saw them come back from a 2-0 deficit, to win the game 5-3.
In the second game, both sides played well and Grove came away as winners with some late goals.
The school netball team too enjoyed its match against Monkton School, the match was close and competitive.
