A WEST Wales house builder will contribute more than £300,000 to the local area through its Martello Park development in Pembroke.

Persimmon Homes West Wales, the regional branch of the housebuilding giant, builds around 600 houses a year in west Wales, including Pembroke and Milford Haven.

Persimmon agrees to contribute huge sums on money towards things like highways, education and open spaces through Section 106 agreements during the planning process.

In the last 12 months the company has paid out £422,568.75. A further £3,384,739 is pledged in the coming months.

The Martello Park development saw £148,754 paid in Section 106 contributions in December 2016. A further £177,508 is to come, to cover highways, education and community infrastructure in two equal instalments of £88,754 upon occupation of the 80th and 120th dwellings, bringing the total to £326,262.

Andy Baker-Edwards, director in charge at Persimmon Homes West Wales, said: “We are proud of the impact we continue to have in the South-West Wales area.

“Each year we build hundreds of much-needed homes. On top of that we are providing thousands of jobs, affordable housing for local authorities and hundreds of thousands of pounds towards infrastructure and community improvements.

“Construction is a crucial part of the overall economy. It keeps things moving. We are pleased to be leading the way in this area and have plans for further expansion in the years to come.”
