PEMBROKE’S Monkton housing estate has undergone a clean-up, organised by Pembrokeshire County Council and Pembrokeshire Housing in response to a long-running issue with litter on the estate.
Monkton residents of all ages joined forces with staff and collected 50 bags of rubbish.
On site were the county council’s dog wardens who, along with the recycling and housing departments, were able to offer residents advice. A bulky items collection was also available.
Besides the county council, other organisations who attended the event were the local policing team; Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service; Communities First and a representative of PAVS (Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services).
Keep Wales Tidy donated some of the litter-picking equipment including red bags, hi-vis vests and gloves.
The litter-pick was followed by a free lunch for all the volunteers and a play session run by Purple Routes for local children in the afternoon.
