PEMBROKESHIRE’S mental health team at Haven Way Day Hospital in Pembroke Dock has been recognised for its commitment and support for carers and their families.

The team has achieved the Investors in Carers Bronze Level award; a scheme delivered by Hywel Dda University Health Board and supported by local authority and third sector partners in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion.

The Investors in Carers initiative is designed to help health facilities such as pharmacies, GP practices and hospitals focus on and improve their carer awareness, and enhance the support they give carers.

Mary Arnold, support worker for the community mental health team and carer lead at Haven Day, said: "Carers are an important part of patients care, and investing in carers is integral to the health, safety, and wellbeing of the patients under our care."

Nadine Morgan, interim head of nursing, mental health and learning disabilities, said it was a “real pleasure to recognise the hard work and effort made by Mary and the team to achieve the IiC Bronze Award”.

“The passion, enthusiasm and commitment to working closely with carers is something to be proud of here,” said Nadine. “Sharing this great practice across our mental health and learning disabilities services is high on the agenda for us.”
