INTERNATIONAL students from Pembrokeshire College recently enjoyed a visit to Haverfordwest Town Council chambers.
The pupils, who are studying English as a foreign language at the college, met with the Mayor, Cllr Jackie Westrup, and town councillor Alan Buckfield.
Course leader Yoriko Omae said the students were amazed by the many plaques on the Mayor's parlour walls, and enjoyed learning about the 400-year-old maces and ceremonial swords.
They were also intrigued by the Mayor's chain, and got to hold it. They then enjoyed a cup of tea and Welsh cakes while they chatted with the mayor.
Taking part in the visit were Chinese students Wei Zhi Liang and Jiayi Xie, Hong Kong Chinese student Anice Own, Japanese students Haruki Hotta, and
Michelle Stenimetz from Germany, who is working in Pembrokeshire as an au pair.
Haverfordwest is twinned with Oberkirch in Germany, and has connections with Japan, so students were pleased to see gifts from those countries displayed.
