AN evening of music and song was held at Ysgol Ger y Llan in Letterston last Monday night (March 24) to raise money towards the school’s outdoor play area.

The school hall was packed with not enough chairs to go around for all the friends and family that had gathered to watch the children perform.

The concert kicked off with two pieces from the school’s talented orchestra, followed by a brass group, choir and soloists.

The Letterston Singing for Fun group had a tough act to follow, but delighted the audience with a lively performance.

Headteacher Elin Evans said: “Ysgol Ger y Llan was thrilled to host a concert with the pupils and the Letterston Singing for Fun Group.

“The children gave an excellent evenings’ entertainment, and it was a great experience for the children to participate in a concert with a great group of singers.

“Thanks to the efforts of the pupils, the Parent and Teachers Association, and the singing group the sum of £263.25 was raised for the development of the outdoor play area."

Anna Curtis from the PTA said: “We are collecting for school play equipment as this was not included in the new school build and it is something the children really want.

“So far we have got some wooden pieces (obstacle course / trim trail) which are good for the younger children, but we want to keep adding to this for all ages throughout the school.

“We are involving the children who have been looking at brochures and choosing what they want.”
