VODAFONE has apologised again for signal failures in the Fishguard area.

Its customers were left out of the loop in December following a six day service failure, and the problem has arisen once more.

Richard Barnet of Dinas Cross is one of many customers experiencing problems.

He contacted the Western Telegraph on Friday to say he had been without signal for a week.

Mr Barnet worked as a journalist for ITV News and certainly knows the importance of communications.

He said: “It’s a big issue in a rural area.

“It’s not a big problem for me personally, but many people have mobile phones for emergencies.

“We are near the coastal path, what would happen if somebody fell and couldn’t contact the emergency services?

“The same goes for road accidents and breakdowns on isolated roads.”

A Vodafone spokesman said: “We wish to apologise to our customers who may have been affected by a reduction in service in Fishguard.

“We have been closely monitoring the site and have found that one of the antennas isn’t performing as we would like. The other antennas are working normally.

“We are treating this site as a high priority and will be seeking to return service to normal as quickly as possible.”
