A GROUP of charity bikers took time out from travelling Britain’s coastline to make a welcome pit stop in Fishguard last Sunday.

Matthew Neve and Luke McAndrew are leading the run, which set off from Swansea on June 1. Picking up fellow bikers along the way, they will be clocking up 3,215 around Wales, Scotland and England in just 12 days.

Matthew and Luke are both ex military and are hoping to raise a minimum of £5,000 for Help for Heroes. The UK military charity which launched in 2007 supports servicemen and women who have suffered life-changing injuries in British conflicts.

Matthew said: “We are both doing this as we know how much support Help For Heroes give directly and indirectly. It is a charity close to our hearts and is fantastic for helping injured service personnel.

“What we would love is to get other bikers involved even if it's just for a few miles to show support. Each bike that joins us is required to donate £5 to the charity.”

The group arrived in Fishguard on Sunday and enjoyed lunch at the Coach House.

Matthew said: “We have had a lot of donations along the way. I reckon we’ve had more than £1,500 so far.

"The ride is going well. We’ve pretty much kept up with the timings.

“Luke, Terry, Neil and myself left Swansea and we picked two guys up. We lost them just after Carmarthen, but we caught back up. Jackie and Luke’s sister then joined us in Haverfordwest.”

After the run finishes back in Swansea there will be party at the Greyhound in Llanrhidian, where there will be live music, buffet, raffle and charity auction.
