WOLFSCASTLE'S 2014 Festival kicks off at the end of this month.

Monday, June 30: 5-a-side football competition for primary school children starting at 6pm.

Tuesday, July 1: the river field will host the village games and barbecue at 6pm with a £30 prize for the winning team.

Wednesday, July 2: quiz night at the Wolfscastle Country Hotel at 8pm.

Thursday, July 3: scarecrow hunt around the village, starting from the school at 1pm. Later that day there will be a car treasure hunt, leaving the village green between 6pm and 7pm.

Friday, July 4: open garden and cheese and wine evening at Treffgarne Hall from 6pm to 8pm.

Saturday, July 5: the carnival and fun day at river field starting at 2pm. Attractions include vintage vehicles display, stalls, bouncy castle, children's sports, one mile fun run, duck race and a performance by Goodwick Community Band.

Rounding off the week's events is the singing festival in Penybont Chapel at 7.30pm on Sunday, July 6.

Running alongside the festival are writing competitions for adults and children. Children up to seven are asked to write a four line verse about Wolfscastle, children aged eight to 16 are asked to create an acrostic using Wolfscastle and adults a limerick starting with the line 'The reverend was out late one night.' Entries should be handed into the school no later than 4pmon Monday, June 30.
