NOW into its second week, there are still scores of top performances to come in this year’s Fishguard International Music Festival.

The programme for the internationally-acclaimed Festival, which runs until July 30, is the first to be put together by new joint artistic directors Peter Donohoe and Gillian Green.

Continuing its long-established tradition of presenting major Welsh orchestras, international soloists and chamber ensembles in a variety of venues across north Pembrokeshire, there are also several exciting new additions to this year’s line-up.

Running alongside this prestigious concert programme will be a series of related events, including a Young Musicians’ Platform, featuring Dominic Cicotti on piano, Molly-Rowan Sharples on violin and harp, pianist Siriol Jenkins, saxophonist Talfan Jenkins, pianist Sabrina Morgan, and Epsie Thompson on flute.

Another highlight will be a piano masterclass with Peter Donohoe on Thursday (tomorrow), in which he shares his vast knowledge and experience with four outstanding young pianists.

On Saturday, the Maggini Quartet performs string quarter works by Mozart, Mathias and Brahms, and on Sunday, an international recital at Rhosygilwen features Alissa Margulis on violin, Per Nystrom on cello, and Peter Donohoe on piano.

A grand finale concert on Wednesday, July 30, will see the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, conducted by Jac van Steen, perform at St Davids Cathedral.
