THE work of local fashion designers was paraded down the catwalk at the Wolfscastle Country Hotel on Sunday, August 3.

The event was organised by Kai Stewart who wanted to showcase the work of Welsh designers and raise money for breast cancer.

Kai grew up in Llangwm and after working in a solicitor’s office for a few years decided to enter back into full time education and fulfil her lifelong dream of becoming a fashion designer.

Kai has already enjoyed success, having been shortlisted for a competition with River Island and also having a design from her graduate collection sent to London Graduate Fashion Week.

She has gained a range of experience within the fashion industry from working a few days alongside a designer producing handmade leather bags, to then working for three years alongside a bespoke fashion designer.

Last December, she exhibited at the Clothes Show Live where her accessory designs sold out within the first few days.

Kai draws her inspiration from mixing recycled components with luxury materials to create a unique look. She aims to create quirky garments that are also stylish and wearable.

Kai will be selling her designs under the name Jaxxon House, a company she created during her first year in university. The online boutique will be launching this month. Visit www.jaxxonhouse.co.uk

Kai said: “I wanted to do a fashion show to showcase graduate’s work and help raise money for charity. I was worried hardly any people would turn up to watch, but we ended up selling out.

“I’ve had tremendous support from my employers JCP solicitors whilst I studied at university. A big thank you to all the local businesses who donated prizes, Andrew Price and Pro Nails for making the models look their best and Lyndsey Dafoe the photographer.”
