A FUNDING boost of £50,000 has been announced for the Fishguard and Goodwick Town Centre partnership.

Councillor David Pugh, Cabinet Member for Economy and Tourism, told members of the economy overview and scrutiny committee the news on Thursday.

The money will be used to help deliver the aims and objectives contained in the Fishguard and Goodwick Town Team action plan.

In particular, it will be used to contribute to increasing vibrancy in the town centre and supporting its diversification, increasing investment, and helping town centre businesses to grow.

Cllr Pat Davies, County Councillor for Fishguard North-West, said she was pleased that funding has been secured.

She said: “It can be used for some of the improvement projects in the Fishguard and Goodwick Action Plan. Although we have a lot of large projects in the plan, this funding is really welcome for some of the smaller ones and hopefully we can tick some of them off.”

Cllr Myles Pepper said: “As the County Councillor for the ward of Fishguard North-East I very much welcome this positive announcement from the County Council's Regeneration Unit and thank them for the commitment shown to Fishguard and Goodwick via the Town Team scheme.

“Maximising the opportunity for increasing the vibrancy in and the diversification of the Town Centre will of course require financial commitment from our Town Council via the local precept along with other lead organisations and I would strongly urge them to afford this important opportunity their fullest support.”
