THERE was a full house for the recent Cystic Fibrosis fish and chip supper at Something’s Cooking, Letterston.

The evening was the penultimate fundraiser organised by the Pembrokeshire branch to mark the 50th anniversary of the CF Trust.

It was also an opportunity for the members to say farewell to Barbara Piper, a long serving member who is leaving the area.

Presenting her with a gift from the members, branch chairman Sybil Edwards said: “Barbara was one of our stalwarts. She was secretary for 12 years until she was forced to retire due to ill health. She was a great support to our families and a strong voice when she felt we, or the Trust, were not going down the right path. We will miss her and wish her well in her new home.”

Sybil also spoke of the death earlier in the year of Grace Lloyd who was a founder member of the branch and she thanked the Lloyd family for their generosity in asking for donations in lieu of wreaths to go to the work of the CF Trust. This raised £880 .

Grace’s daughter-in-law Pauline and her friend Rebecca went on to arrange a fundraising healing day, which raised just under £2,000 thanks to support from Western Power.

As the 50th anniversary year draws to a close the branch’s grand finale will be the Christmas hamper raffle, coffee morning and fair at the British Legion Club Milford Haven on Saturday, November 15.
