Winners of the inaugural Pembrokeshire County Council (PCC) Shwmae award, was the team behind Fishguard's school radio, Calon Y Coridorau (Heart of the Corridors).

The Shwmae awards reward effort, success, enthusiasm and perseverance among the people of Pembrokeshire who use and promote Welsh in their work and in their communities. It is hoped they will become an annual event.

Ysgol Bro Gwaun students Tomos Salmon, Tristan Thomas and Tomos Evans (pictured) received their award at a glittering ceremony at Pembrokeshire College on October 15th.

The PCC award was for a specific project undertaken by a group or class which successfully promoted the use of Welsh outside the classroom.

The trio was nominated for the award by Ysgol Bro Gwaun head teacher Nerys Nicholas, who said that the school radio project had done a lot to promote the Welsh language in the wider school.
