A Letterston hairdresser has raised a fantastic £4,133 for local cancer services, following a fashion-filled fundraiser at Wolfscastle Country Hotel.

Emma Griffiths, owner of Em's Hair Boutique, planned the event to raise cash for two causes close to her heart; MacMillan and Withybush's cancer day unit.

Emma's partner, Chris, was diagnosed with testicular cancer three and a half years ago.

He is now in remission following operations in Carmarthen and the Heath and treatment at Withybush.

"Macmillan and the cancer day unit were brilliant," said Emma. "They were really supportive. Without them you don't realise how much you'd actually struggle. They made hard times bearable."

The fashion show, featuring clothes from Occasions, Celebrations and Vincent Davies and emceed by Dorian Williams, was followed by a raffle with over 50 prizes, a holiday auction, a buffet and local band Hooked who kept the 200 plus guests dancing.

"It was fantastic," said Emma. "It was a great night and everybody thoroughly enjoyed it from the youngsters to the grans.

"We did better than we thought we would. So many people turned up on the night and we had so much help and support from all over Pembrokeshire."

Emma said she could not have done it without support from family and friends. She was extremely grateful to everybody who attended the event and all who had donated their services, time and the many raffle prizes.

The money raised has been split between MacMillan and the Withybush chemotherapy day unit appeal.

"I would like to thank Emma and everybody involved for putting on such a fantastic event," said Sue Reece, Macmillan's fundraising manager.

"The money will go towards supporting people in Pembrokeshire through all our services."

Emma hopes to hold another fundraising event, possibly a walk, in the near future. In the meantime she continues to raise money for both charities with a 2015 calendar featuring fabulous hair styles photographed by SJ photography, available for £6 at Em's Hair Boutique.

Photos of the evening are also available to buy, with all proceeds going to the two charities, at www.photoboxgallery.com/paulgriffiths.
