THE extra-curricular achievements of pupils at Ysgol Bro Gwaun were recognised during a morning of presentations last month.

Three students were named the school’s ‘Pupil of the Week’, which recognises when pupils go that extra mile in their school work, but also in other aspects of school life.

Congratulations to Mari Williams, Michael Lewis and Callum Harries on their achievements in academic areas, but also for their work with the School Council and the transition presentation to governors, councillors and council officers including Kate Evan-Hughes, the Director of Education on November 19.

Also celebrating were several pupils who recently received recognition for their history project by the Pembrokeshire Historic Buildings Trust Schools Competition 2014. All pupils attended a celebration ceremony in Haverfordwest and also received whole school recognition in a presentation of certificates on November 24.

Pupils had prepared a variety of projects on Pembrokeshire buildings including Pembroke and Carew Castles and St David's Cathedral. The project received a highly commended certificate and a certificate of achievement award.

Also recognised were pupils who contributed to the recent Sport Pembrokeshire secondary schools football tournament, with Ysgol Bro Gwaun winning both the under 14s and under 16s competitions.

The school recently welcomed members of the Lions Club to present the peace poster competition prizes in collaboration with the Ysgol Bro Gwaun's art department. Lions Bob Wheatley and Delia Smith, together with the President and Mayoress Rhian Lloyd, congratulated the three winning pupils; Emma Harries, Charlotte Gethin and Kate Hawkins.
