GOODWICK Brass Band was joined by family and friends at Wolfscastle County Hotel on January 9 for the annual awards dinner.
Musical Director Matthew Jenkins highlighted the progress made by the junior band and the new competition band, Phoenix Brass. He said: “Everyone has been impressed by the hard work and enthusiasm of the juniors. It’s vital that we continue to encourage the youngsters and give them every opportunity to develop because without them the band can have no future.”
The senior band, crowned Welsh Section One champions in 2014, is aiming to challenge for a place in the top tier of British banding, the Championship section, this year.
Individual awards for 2014 went to: Section of the Year: The Bass (Tuba) Section; Player of the Year: Jordan James; Players’ Player: Alison Beak; Most Improved Player: Matthew Page-Davies. In the Community Band, Player of the Year was Paula Jenkins and Most Improved Player Rachael Morgan.
