A ‘QUIZ and cake’ party at the Picton Centre on Sunday, November 17, will be raising money to help support elderly people in Pembrokeshire.

Contact the Elderly is a national charity dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation among older people.

It organises regular Sunday afternoon tea parties for people over 75 who live with little or no social support, and aims to provide a ‘friendship’ lifeline to those who might otherwise spend the day on their own.

Sunday has been highlighted as being a particularly lonely day of the week for elderly people living alone, and getting together with friends can make a big difference to people’s lives.

Guests are picked up from their home by a volunteer driver and then taken to a volunteer host’s home for the afternoon.

An afternoon of ‘quiz and cake’ has now been arranged to help raise funds for this important service, from 2pm until 5pm.

Entry is £5 per team of three, which includes tea and cake.

Sandy Davies, group co-ordinator for Pembrokeshire, said: “Please help to make this a success by asking your friends and family to support us and our older people in Pembrokeshire.”

Advance booking is essential please call Sandy on 01437 711335 or email pembscte@outlook.com.
