PUPILS at Hook School have been applauded for their stamina after coming 13th out of 52 schools at the annual Pembrokeshire Primary Schools Cross Country Championships.

On October 17, 844 sporty youngsters from around the county took part in the 21st annual cross country event at Oakwood theme park.

23 pupils from Hook School took part, with debut runner Maddie Managhan coming ninth, and the school coming 13th overall.

A celebratory assembly was held on Wednesday, November 6, where special guests Corine Codd, Pete Freeman and Jessica Huddleston presented the small school shield for 2013.

Headteacher Mr. Nick Allen said: “Winning the Small Schools Shield for the second consecutive year is a remarkable achievement, and reflects the hard work the pupils have put in.

“The pupils who took part championed our school values of co-operation, honesty and friendship. I would like to congratulate all pupils, parents and staff who helped to support the school in this successful event.”

Year three boys: Luc Owen, Chester Marles, Leon Gainford Troy Goodridge, Bailey Goodridge and Noah Goodridge; year four girls: Tilly Field; year four boys: Lewis Miller, Jacob Owen and Owen Phelps; year five girls: Lucy Thomas and Zara Pamment-Jones; year five boys: Rhys Somerville, Erol Akay, Bradley Davies and Lewis Young; year six girls: Elin Miller, Daisy Brown and Alex Witcher; year six boys: Mathew Owen Rees and Samuel Storrow.
