Galilee Baptist Chapel, in Llangwm, has welcomed Reverend Roger Hart as its new minister.

Well-wishers from Rev Hart’s former congregation at Bethany, Pembroke Dock, and other local churches and chapels, attended a service of induction on December 6.

Christmas decorations and flowers arranged by the ladies of the Women’s League added to the warmth of the occasion, and home-baked refreshments were served in the vestry afterwards.

Guest preacher was Rev David Jones, with chairperson Clive Sheridan, President of the Baptist Union of Wales. Words of welcome were expressed by Peter Phillips, Huw Breeze and Mrs Maureen Kiff of Galilee, and a commendation was given by Miss Christine Powell of Bethany Church.

Other speakers included Mr Francis Maull and Mrs Mary Campbell of the Pembrokeshire Baptist Association, and Rev Hugh-John Wilson representing the Methodist Church.

During the service, a collection raised £250 for the Philippines Disaster Appeal Fund.

Rev Hart’s appointment marks a major milestone in the history of the chapel, which has been grateful to a loyal group of visiting ministers and lay preachers in the interim.

Rev Hart has served in Wales, Canada, Scotland and England before returning to Pembroke Dock around 14 years ago. He is looking forward to getting to know his congregation and the people of Llangwm, and offers a warm welcome to all.
