FOR the second year running, a local man is asking people to race 5 kilometres to raise money for a cause close to his heart.

Roland Sherwood, from Clarbeston Road, is currently having treatment for advanced prostate cancer.

A lifelong marathon runner, Roland has battled to keep as fit as possible despite the aggressive treatment, and he is keen for others to help raise money for cancer charity Tenovus.

The Tenovus 5k will take place at Haverfordwest Football Club on Sunday, June 22. Starting at 11am, anyone is welcome to take part, and there will also be shorter routes for children, walkers and 'fun-runners'.

All the money raised go to helping Welsh cancer patients and their relatives to live their lives, and there will be prizes for the winners.

"So come on people, turn up and run, walk, or just help and support this very worthy cause," said Roland.

More information and entry forms can be found at the Tenovus shop in Bridge Street, Haverfordwest, or by email info.olrr@tiscali.co.uk, phone 01437 563690, www.onlineraceresults.org.uk .
