MEMBERS of the local Breathe Easy group presented a cheque to nurses at Withybush Hospital on Friday morning (June 20).

Members raised just over £184 through their annual collection at Morrisons in Haverfordwest.

The money was used to purchase three oximeters for Ward 7, which cares for people with respiratory problems.

The finger tip sensors are used to monitor a patient’s blood oxygen levels.

Breathe Easy Haverfordwest offers support to people affected by lung conditions, including their friends, family and carers.

The group’s secretary Geoff Winterman said: “People who come along have a whole range of respiratory problems from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to asthma.

“There are a lot of people with lung conditions and it really restricts people’s lives, certainly getting out and about.

“Our chairman was on Ward 7 a few months ago and as a result of their need for oximeters, we agreed that we would purchase three of them on their behalf.”

Breathe Easy meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 2pm to 4pm at Haverfordwest Leisure Centre. To find out more visit the British Lung Foundation’s website www.blf.org.uk
