HAVERFORDWEST shoppers donated a generous 1030.4 kg of food and £187.49 to Pembrokeshire foodbank - in association with Trussell Trust – during a three day National Collection at the local branch of Tesco.

The food was collected earlier this month to help feed local people facing crisis. A small army of volunteers helped to make the supermarket collection a great success.

“Volunteers asked shoppers to donate an item or two to help feed local people in crisis,” Pembrokeshire foodbank manager, Tirzah Redman, explained. “The food that is given out by the foodbank is donated by the public, which makes collections like this so important.”

Tesco’s Better Service Manager, Jill Gosling, said: “Once again, this has been a very successful foodbank collection at Tesco Extra Haverfordwest. Many thanks to our loyal and generous customers.”

Welsh Assembly Member, Paul Davies, visited the store and met Pembrokeshire foodbank volunteers.

Pembrokeshire foodbank is located at Liberty Café, Grace Court House, Market Square, Narberth. It is open on Wednesdays from 11am to 2pm. A satellite branch at Hill Park Baptist Church, Haverfordwest, is open on Tuesdays from 10am to 1pm.
