RUMOURS that Birmingham City Council is financing a housing development in Haverfordwest to move “problem tenants” in to are completely unfounded.
The Western Telegraph received an anonymous phone call claiming an estate was going to be built on land near Furzy Park or Haverfordwest Racecourse.
“It will ruin Haverfordwest if they come down here,” said the caller, who claimed to have it on good authority that the development was in the pipeline.
A spokesperson for Pembrokeshire County Council said the rumour was “absolutely, categorically untrue”.
“I would like to make it clear that no such development is happening,” he said.
The source of the persistent urban myth is unknown.
