PEMBROKESHIRE’S newest Young Farmers’ Club is looking forward to an exciting year of competing and socialising.

Members from Brawdy YFC and Hayscastle YFC came together last month to form a new group of thirty plus.

The annual general meeting was held at Hayscastle Community Hall and a new team of officers was elected to take Brawdy Hayscastle YFC forward.

Speaking on behalf of Brawdy Hayscastle YFC, their new secretary, Nerys Roberts, said:“It’s great that we have managed to avoid losing the two clubs and we are all proud of not only the formation of the new club but the histories of the two clubs combined.

“Brawdy YFC will be celebrating their 65th anniversary this year and Hayscastle will be hitting the big 40 which we plan to mark together with the first year celebration of our new club at our club dinner on Saturday, October 25.”

Pembrokeshire YFC’s County Organiser, Nia George, said: “Concerns were raised from both clubs about dwindling numbers and both were facing difficult decisions. However, after joining forces to take part in last year’s entertainment it became very apparent that both clubs had so much to offer and together made a stronger team.

The enthusiasm that has been shown by a small group of founder members has been incredible and they are driving forward with a fantastic club programme as well as an ambition to take part in as many competitions as possible in the next year. The new club logo, hoodies and rugby shirt have concreted the bond formed between the members and there is a definite buzz surrounding the club at the moment.”

If you would like to find out more and join in with activities, Brawdy Hayscastle YFC meet every Tuesday night at Hayscastle Community Hall, new and old members will be warmly welcomed each week and especially in our celebration at the end of October.
