THE family of a young Haverfordwest woman who has spent the last year of her life in hospital held a Fun Day and raised £1,349.20 for research in to her condition.

Amie Baker, 23, from Haverfordwest, has Behcet’s disease. This rare, chronic syndrome affects the nervous system and causes painful ulcers on the mouth and skin, as well as affecting other bodily functions.

The money raised will go to the Behcet’s Syndrome Society, which provides information and support, promotes research and provides financial aid for hardship caused by Behcet’s.

Amie’s brother Luke and his wife Jade will also run the Cardiff half marathon this month, to raise extra funds.

“We’d like to thank everyone who helped make the Fun Day a success,” said Amie’s mum, Lynda.
