LOCAL food and drink producers are signing up for stalls at Haverfordwest’s first ever culinary festival.

‘Haverfoodfest’ is set to take place in and around the Picton Centre on May 9, and the aim is for it to become an annual event.

Plans for the celebration of Pembrokeshire fare are well advanced, thanks to a festival committee under the chairmanship of Carol Norgrove, along with Sally Williams of Just Nice, Lise Matthews of The Ark, Donna Jones of Creative Cafe, Brett Kilner of Purple Dragon, Gary Lewis of County Sports and Brian Harries of the Bristol Trader.

The committee hopes the festival will compliment other efforts being made to regenerate the county town.

Predominantly under cover, the event will feature up to 40 stall holders, cooking demonstrations, live music and other attractions including the Man Versus Food Challenge!

Celebrity chef Angela Gray, whose past clients include Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, has been booked to open the festival.

Food writer Angela featured in two prime time cookery series for BBC Wales as the presenter and chef. She also appeared on The One Show with Jay Rayner, judging a competition to find the UK’s favourite dishes.

Sponsorship for Haverfoodfest has been secured from a number of local businesses and organisations. For more information, or to book a stall, visit www.haverfoodfest.co.uk
